Quinoline Biodegradation by Bacillus Licheniformis Strain CRC-75

چکیده
A bacterial culture was isolated from oil-contaminated soil based on its ability to metabolize the quinoline as the sole source of nitrogen. In this research Bacillus licheniformis strain was identified based on the result of 16S rRNA analysis. Optimized conditions were obtained with full factorial experimental design method using design expert software at temperature: 32C, agitation speed: 200rpm, quinoline concentration: 400 ppm.The efficiency of Bacillus licheniformis for biodegradation of quinoline at the optimum conditions was determined to be 35%. Two-phase cultivation media were used with 5, 10, 15 and 20% heavy crude oil concentration in aqueous media. Resting cells of Bacillus licheniformis was shown to be capable of removing about 25% of total nitrogen in 5% heavy crude oil. GC analysis showed a decreasing trend in the activity of this strain against crude oil concentration

متن کاملEvaluation of orange peel for biosurfactant production by Bacillus licheniformis and their ability to degrade naphthalene and crude oil
A Gram-positive bacterium was isolated from mangrove soil and was identified as Bacillus licheniformis (KC710973). The potential of a mangrove microorganism to utilize different natural waste carbon substrates for biosurfactant production and biodegradation of hydrocarbons was evaluated. Among several substrates used in the present study, orange peel was found to be best substrate of biosurfact...
متن کاملCo-Metabolic Degradation of β-Cypermethrin and 3-Phenoxybenzoic Acid by Co-Culture of Bacillus licheniformis B-1 and Aspergillus oryzae M-4
The degradation efficiency of organic contaminants and their associated metabolites by co-culture of microbes is mainly limited by toxic intermediates from co-metabolic degradation. In this study, we investigated the degradation of β-cypermethrin (β-CY) and 3-phenoxybenzoic acid (3-PBA) by co-culture of Bacillus licheniformis B-1 and Aspergillus oryzae M-4, as well as the influences of β-CY and...
متن کاملIn vitro degradation of linamarin by microorganisms isolated from cassava wastewater treatment lagoons
This study aimed at isolating and characterizing of microorganisms able to use linamarin as sole carbon source. Thirty one microbial strains were isolated from manipueira, a liquid effluent of cassava processing factories. Among these strains, Bacillus licheniformis (isolate 2_2) and Rhodotorulla glutinis (isolate L1) were able to degrade 71% and 95% of added linamarin, respectively, within 7 d...
متن کاملProduction of tannase through submerged fermentation of tannin-containing plant extracts by Bacillus licheniformis KBR6.
Tannins are water-soluble polyphenolic compounds found in plants as secondary metabolites. The presence of these substances in the barks of eight different plants was initially examined and their crude extracts were used separately as a substrate for production of tannase through submerged fermentation by Bacillus licheniformis KBR6. Tannase production as well as biodegradation of the substrate...
